Life skills are abilities for adaptive and positive behaviour, that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. There are innumerable life skills that are required across different settings but the core set of skills we want to teach are:

  • Decision making- by teaching the children how to identify a problem/conflict, gather all relevant information around it, brainstorm possible solutions and finally make a choice.
  • Creative thinking- Creativity can be taught in many different ways such as music, entertainment, and technology. We will set up all possible activities and give the children an opportunity to explore their creativity.
  • Effective communication- We will teach the children the importance of asking for advice in a time of need by emphasizing how to express ourselves verbally and non-verbally. We will enable this skill by having a one-on-one conversation with each child.
  • Interpersonal relationship skills- We will help the children build relationships around them in positive ways by adding more team-building activities and leisure activities so that they are able to keep friendly relationships.

Healing workshops for old age homes

An old age home is a place for sharing compassion, a place for sharing smiles and tears, a place for fun and frolic, a place of learning, a place called home in aging years.

The healing workshops we have at Prasara care foundation include:

  • Let’s get moving- It is very important to be active, especially at an old age. We will advise activities like yoga, walking, and sports to make everyone feel light and happy. This would be a great way to release anti-stress hormones and be happy.
  • Meditation- We will keep regular meditation classes.
  • Other activities- We do understand the joints tend to get stiff in old age so we also encourage activities like crochet, knitting, cooking, gardening, painting to keep the hands moving
  • Celebrations- In order to make everyone feel at home, we will celebrate birthdays, watch movies and get volunteers as a part of our healing programs.

Volunteer Programs for Children and Senior Citizens

At Prasara Care Foundation, We give an opportunity to volunteer and to change a life. You can volunteer as an individual or in a group. We offer opportunities on a weekly basis. You can sign up to serve for one week on up to 10 weeks.

Different types of volunteers include:

  • Long-Term programs- A long-term volunteer stays between three to six weeks. They get an opportunity to build deep connections with the children and senior citizens.
  • Short-Term programs- A short-term volunteer stays for three weeks or less. Short-termers are usually families or youth volunteers who go during the summer break. They get an opportunity to an outing with the children and senior citizens and are also involved in the skills training and healing workshops.
  • Full-time Volunteers- They serve 10-12 shifts each week depending on the volunteer schedule. Each shift is four to five hours in length. They are the people who help organize the skills training and healing workshops.

Adoption of Senior Citizens

Through our ‘Adopt-a-Grandparent’ program you can either give monthly donations to help feed senior citizens. For example, when you choose this program a grandparent will be assigned to you and you have the opportunity to provide them meals, clothes, and anything else that you may wish and you will be the reason they live their last days in dignity.

Adoption of struggling artists in association with CINTAA

CINTAA Association aims to nurture a feeling of unity among its members and to regulate their professional relations with their employers. We want to provide a channel for the adoption of struggling artists in association with CINTAA. This would give an opportunity to all struggling artists to achieve their dreams. We will help them in training and skills development.
